- 4 large eggs
- 4 slices of crusty bread (sourdough, ciabatta, or baguette)
- 2–3 tablespoons high-quality extra-virgin olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Optional: Fresh herbs (parsley, thyme, or chives) for garnish

1. Boil the Eggs
- Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water by about 1 inch.
- Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 9-12 minutes:
- 9 minutes for slightly creamy yolks.
- 12 minutes for fully set yolks.
- Transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice water to cool for at least 5 minutes. Peel the eggs and cut them in half or serve whole.
2. Prepare the Bread
- Lightly toast the slices of bread to make them warm and crisp.
- Drizzle each slice with extra-virgin olive oil and sprinkle with a pinch of salt.
3. Serve
- Plate the peeled hard-boiled eggs alongside the olive oil-drizzled bread.
- Sprinkle the eggs with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
- Serve immediately as a light meal or snack.
